Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is a person licenced to perform maintenance on an aircraft. The Canadian equivalent to an American Aircraft Maintenance Technician, AMEs are licenced by Transport Canada to perform maintenance as per the Canadian Aviation Regulations. Deferred maintenance - Deferred maintenance is a practice of allowing machinery or infrastructure to deteriorate by postponing prudent but non-essential repairs to save cost, labor and/or material. The failure to perform needed repair, maintenance, and renewal by normal maintenance management creates deferred maintenance. Total Productive Maintenance - Total Productive Maintenance is not the same as a maintenance department that repairs breakdowns (corrective maintenance). TPM is a critical adjunct to lean production.
